The team went up to the second level. Some dwarves came with them (Icemane, Copperbranch, Battlemaker, and Warheart). Leja stayed on the first level.

They found themselves in a corridor. The corridor had paintings on the wall. They recognized some of them as portraits of nobles they had met, such as King DackyDackyDuke and Prince Lutantan. Philip tried to touch one, and had to battle an Owning Things enchantment. They concluded Cave Trolls were in the area.

The trail forked. One trail had more portraits. They passed by. The other trail led to an open cavern, with a statue of a forest troll. There were several openings leading out of the cavern.

One trail led uphill to another level, with a large door that reminded them of the Minotaur lair they had seen earlier. There was a side tunnel that smelled of orcs. Some buckets of dirt were in the hall near the opening.

The team found a kitchen. In the kitchen were a forest troll, two cave trolls, and three dwarf slaves making orc cookies. The team battled, making a mess of the kitchen, and killed the trolls. They freed the dwarves.

They found a side room with dwarf slaves in it. They were lamenting that they were waiting to be washed by the Holy Spirit, citing 2 Timothy 3:5, but didn’t have enough water. The raid team straightened out their theology, and brought the dwarves back to the elevator to send them to safety.

The team burst into the cave troll lair and slew several cave trolls. They saw piles of things: paintings, works of art, painted rocks, wood carvings. They tried not to touch anything, but during the battle some of the trolls threw things at them, trying to spread the Owning Things Enchantment. After the battle, a goblin came to the door with a painted rock. They killed it. There was a simple pitfall trap at the door, but they managed to get by.

The team found a granog’s office. They burst in. The granog dove for a sword that was hanging on the wall. Too late, the granog was cut down by the Raid Team. They investigated the office. On the wall was a portrait of a random adventurer, the desk had a name plate that said “Zumrass”, along with various documents. Starflower looked at the documents and determined they were documentation tracking polymorph potion production. William opened the Treasure chest, which contained 6 bottles of metamorph potion, a buckler, a dwarven dagger, human clothing (cloak, belt, etc- matches portrait), money pouch with 6 claws and 2 Scales. Edward looked at the bookcase. Titles included “Care and Feeding of Minotaurs,” “Managing Trolls While Keeping All Your Teeth,” “Acting Human for Dummies,” “The Proper Neglect of Slaves, (which was a logbook, mentioning more slaves assigned to Dragon Lair)” “Ocean Rue: Find and Identify Herbs for Your Evil Potions,” (Hector kept this one) and “Living With the Undead.” There was a map on the wall. They map showed the big picture of cave networks. They saw the Lower level to docks where they had just been. Goblins tunnels that lead to surface, then through pirate lair and Giant village then to dragon lair. OR Upper level to minotaur maze, connects to undead staging ground, connects to dragon lair.

They investigated another chamber and found five forest trolls brewing metamorph potion. One of the trolls grabbed a bottle of liquid that had a cloth stuffed in the top of it. He lit the cloth on fire and threw it at Edward. The bottle shattered and the fire lit the contents. Edward had burning oil all over him, causing pain for a few rounds of battle. The troll tried to throw another one, and Edward slung a stone at his supply, destroying any further flaming oil attacks. The fight was furious, but the raid team emerged victorious. Dwarves collapsed the orc tunnel.

The team was rather injured after fighting so many trolls. They retreated to the first level to rest for the night.
