One Session Mission
The team was sent back to the Bahanen Islands to free a village from the tyranny of a Granog.
They arrived on the beach, and made their way to the town. They conversed with the guard at the gate (who wouldn’t let Regulus or Bill in), and found out about the inn in town, which was the same one the hobbit had mentioned in his letter, some time ago.
They went to the inn and found the hobbit working at the inn, wearing a dark cloak. They talked with him and secured rooms for the night. They found the granog was working at the bar, but with all the Aladoth patrons (including pirates), they decided to wait for a more opportune moment.
They explored the town a bit more. They found the market square shutting down for the evening. They found the harbour and saw a pirate ship in dock. They found the harbour master and chatted with her a short time. They tried to share the Great Rescue, but she didn’t seem open. They explored further and found a Fish & Chips stand (closed) and a weapons shop, where everything was highly overpriced. They tried to share the Great Rescue with the weapons shop owner. He mentioned he had heard similar things from the Sea Salt merchant. The team concluded the Sea Salt merchant must be a Salt Warrior.
They went back to the inn and went to their rooms for the night. During the night, Tweeks snuck in and tried to tinker with their weapons.
The next morning, they had breakfast, and then Hector spoke with the Granog, proposing a business deal that they could discuss later, when the Granog was off work. The Granog agreed to meet them in the evening after supper in the graveyard. The team explored the town and visited the market square. Cucumber merchants were dueling with their prices. They found the Sea Salt Merchant and made contact. They bought some salt, and agreed to meet him at the end of the day. They encountered two folk named John, who looked alike and acted alike. They shared the Great Rescue. One accepted, the other did not. They led the Keledan John to the edge of town, and Regulus and Bill took him to the Hollow Tree to exit to the Liberated Land. The Aladoth John followed them around a bit. Philip tried using his Overlord’s Guard ability to take on the appearance of John the Keledan. They noticed a lot of imitation going on. People buying cloaks and swords to look alike.
The team decided to nap for the afternoon to kill time. They ate supper, then went to the market to help Gordon, the Sea Salt Merchant, pack up for the day.
They then went to the graveyard. While there, look-alikes of the Light Raider team showed up. Hector fell under enchantment, and wanted to imitate Starflower. He used his quarterstaff instead of his warhammer (since Starflower often used a quarterstaff) and wouldn’t let the real Starflower attack the fake Starflower or vice versa. The real Starflower managed to counsel some sense into him. Bill tried to take on the fake Philip, and the two Williams squared off. The real Philip charged some skeletons, and tried to reach the granog, who watched for a short time, then tried to get away.
William did not fare well against his evil twin. He tried to get away. Hector and Starflower managed to take down the fake Starflower, and Hector advised everyone to team up: don’t fight alone. Hector smashed a couple of skeletons with his war hammer, and Regulus took down a couple as well. Bill managed to maul the fake William. The fake Philip threw his battle axe at Hector, who was badly hurt. They focused all their attention on the fake Philip, killing him. The real Philip took down the granog, accomplishing the mission.
Hector passed out healing potions and medicinal herbs, then the team made their way back home, mission accomplished.
